Today, I want to talk about Groups. I’m a member of so many groups and I always encourage my friends to join as many groups as they can, a group is always a great place to meet new artists and let everybody know what you do.
But, I’m sure that you guys notice every now and then that there is a group that is not active or it has been around for a long time and it has so few members, or a group that doesn't respond to their members and so many other problems. There are so many groups people create just for the sake of creating a group and they leave them just like that, with no activity at all 
How to create a successful group

Commitment: Before you start thinking about creating a group, you should ask yourself, are you ready for it, do you have the time for it, are you ready to commit to it and put some effort into it.
How to choose your staff: You should choose your co-founder and your contributors carefully, they better be your friends, people with whom you share the same interests and the same art form, lets say you want to create a group for Literature, your staff should be writers, people who know something about Literature. Also you should be clear with them, ask them if they are willing to put some time and effort into the group. Coordination: You and your staff should have a very good coordination and a stable contact point. Emails or notes or even a chat-room just for you guys so you can discuss all matters of your group. The staff of a group should be on the same page, always updated. If you are not able to reach your staff, you will have problems. In so many groups, the co-founder tells you something and the founder tells you another thing, this makes your members question the group.Presentation: Before you start inviting members to your group, work first on the presentation of the group. That is; the right icon, try to get your group a very nice icon, and an interesting tag line, that speaks to everybody who would want to join.The group’s Gallery: You know what is your group about and what kind of art people should submit, so now you need to create the right folders, lets say your group is about Literature in general( This example is easier to explain 
) You need to create folders for all genres of poetry and all genres of prose, or if your Group is about photography, create folder for all kind of photography, so everybody can submit their art.Rules: Every group should have rules, honestly, a group with no rules is just a big mess. Feature your rules in the front page of the group, don’t post links to your rules on some other page, most of people don’t bother to go check them. Your rules should always be in the front for every new member to see, also write them in bold please.Invitations: Now that your group is looking nice, start inviting members You need to start with your watchers first, they are the ones that would love to support your project and you may even ask them to promote your group and that will help you get more members. Who do you invite next and how I will tell you how.Again, lets say your group is for photography, what I will do is, I will brows photography, you better browse the newest deviations. Then I start looking at photos, visiting the artist’s page, well he does good photos, invite him. If you just invite 20 people every day that would be amazing. After all a group is awesome with more members.
The invitation itself: Some people come and ask you to join their groups in a very straight forward way as if they order you. Be polite, invite people in a very polite way “ Hey there 
I have checked your gallery, you are doing really good work and I would love if you join my group. Have a nice day “ Who wouldn't join you if you talk like this.
Affiliations: Try to affiliate with as many other groups as you can, groups that have the same stream as you, whne you affliate with groups you give your group more exposure and more people will know about it. Also, whne you send an affiliation reauest, be polite and insert a small note that says” we would love to affiliate with you guys” or anything else like that.Activity: Now you have members and they are submitting their work and everything looks good. This should never let you relax and let the group be, you need to be active, try to interact with your members, through journals and posts, ask them if they need something, if they have suggestions. Take their suggestion into consideration. Answer their notes and comments.Donation poll: Create a donation poll for your group, collect donations for contests. Customize your donation poll and make it clear that points are for giving as prizes for winners.Group Contest: This is always an event that makes members love their group more and get them to know each other, a group contest always creates a very beautiful atmosphere in the group. Even if you don’t have much prizes, just every now and then announce a contest, everybody will be willing to donate prizes and help you. There are groups that do contests that only have features as prizes and everybody is happy about it.Always ask for help: A group is not easy to manage especially at the start don’t be shy and ask for help, either from your friends and watchers, from other groups.<da:thumb id="148185576"/> In this tutorial you will learn how to set up the basic permissions on GROUPS
